Privacy policy

Who we are

StitchStarter is published by The First Buyer. You can reach us at contact@stitchstarter.com about anything on this page.

What we collect

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful. IP anonymization is enabled, and we have explicitly turned off Google signals and ad personalization - so the data is not used to build an advertising profile of you. It tells us which pages get read and roughly where readers are in the world, and nothing that identifies you personally.

The contact form. If you send us a message, we receive your name, email address, chosen topic and message so we can reply. We keep it for as long as the conversation is useful and we do not add you to anything.

Server logs. Our host records standard request logs, which include IP addresses, for security and reliability. We do not mine them.

What we do not do

  • No advertising networks and no display ads.
  • No retargeting or remarketing pixels.
  • No mailing list - there is nothing to unsubscribe from.
  • We never sell or rent any data about you.
  • No cookie walls, no consent theater, and no popups.

Buy buttons on this site pass through a redirect on our own domain and then to Amazon, carrying our Amazon Associates tag. Amazon uses its own cookies to attribute a purchase to us - that is how the site is funded, and it is described in full on the affiliate disclosure page. Once you are on Amazon, Amazon's own privacy policy applies, not ours.

We count how many times each buy button is clicked, through the same analytics described above. We do not know who clicked, and we are not told what you bought.

Cookies

The only cookies set on this site are Google Analytics measurement cookies. There are no advertising cookies, and nothing on this site requires an account or a login. If you block cookies, the site works exactly the same.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you and ask us to delete it. In practice that will be the contents of a contact form message, if you have sent one. Email contact@stitchstarter.com and we will deal with it.

You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google's browser add-on, or by blocking analytics in your browser or an extension.

Children

This site is written for adults buying sewing machines, including adults buying them for children. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. We will not quietly start doing something this page says we do not do.
